Join Mollie Rusher of On3 and Nicole Wilker of 360|Conferences as they host “The Click” breakfast on Tuesday morning. This women-only event (sorry guys) started at 360|Flex 2011 and is an awesome way for women attendees to enjoy each other’s company away from the hustle and bustle of the conference itself, and get to know each other. It’s a great way to talk about things that matter to women attendees, in a setting that encourages communication.
Having more women at tech conferences is a big deal. If you looked at the attendance of tech conferences, you’d think women simply weren’t participating in high tech jobs, but that’s not the case (though they’re definitely in the minority overall, sadly). Of course we could do things like offer free passes to women who make videos begging… sorry explaining why they deserve to come but frankly we don’t run a night club, and it’s not ladies night. Women are the equals of men in our industry and using them as lures of men and other women is not how we do things.
That means, things like “The Click” are really important to us, to make sure that 1. women feel welcome at tech conferences and 2. we can encourage women attendees to help us find real solutions, and offer real ideas to encourage women to attend.
Oh yeah and Mollie is bringing some prizes to hand out during the breakfast, as if hanging with other geek girls wasn’t enough of a reward.
